About us Childsplay Day Nursery

Here at Child’s Play, our vision is to provide quality care in a stimulating and homely environment, where learning’s fun!

This includes our emphasis on outdoor learning, strong parental links and involvement, robust safeguarding procedures, networking and support from other professionals and a large focus on nutrition and healthy lifestyles.

Established in 1994, Child’s Play is the longest provider of quality day care in the area. Often described as ‘Penistone’s best kept secret!’ We pride ourselves on our beautiful rural setting and we actively encourage outdoor exploration and investigation throughout all our age groups.

Child’s Play’s development has always been based on its ability to listen to our customer’s requests and respond successfully. From its beginnings we have developed our services around the needs of our customers, adding new services as and when they were needed.  Child’s Play is open 51 weeks a year closing only at Christmas to allow general maintenance and full redecoration to take place. We are proud to boast that not even Penistone’s coldest winters have ever forced us to close!

The ‘Child’s Play Approach’

The ‘Child’s Play Approach’ values each child as a strong, capable and resilient individual; rich with wonder and knowledge. Every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand both their world and their place within it.

The ‘Approach’ is our guide to take a ‘natural’ look at learning and provide children with a large uncluttered space, full of natural open ended objects that can be anything, allowing no limit to the child’s imagination.

Real life experiences form a large part of the ‘Childs Play Approach’ from hatching and caring for chicks and ducklings to catching the bus into town to visit our local library and market.

“Childs Play is an extension of home and not a watered-down version of school”
